Can we obtain the signatures prior to May 2nd?
Caitlin Reddick
44:36
Many candidates will tend to look for their 25 endorsement signatures prior to registering on May 1. Assuming they don't file until the nomination period opens on May 1, the practice of collecting early endorsement signatures should be acceptable. Prospective candidates may wish to wait until updated resources have been posted to the Ministry website to ensure that they do not use a form that is out of date.

If a business owner has a large marquee sign and displays a message vote for so and so....would this be considered third party advertising?
Caitlin Reddick
46:50
Yes, the business would need to register as a 3rd party advertiser

Section 88.30 states the Financial Statement is to be filed by March 31 in the year after the election - so what does the January 3rd date reference?
Terri Knight Lepain, City of Windsor
01:13:01
The campaign period ends on January 3 unless an extension is filed with the Clerk
Caitlin Reddick
01:13:21
Usually, campaigns must end on December 31. However, since December 31, 2022 is aSaturday, the deadline moves to January 3, 2023. Your campaign must end on January 3, 2023unless you have a deficit and inform the clerk in writing that you are going to extend your campaign. Once your campaign has ended, you should close your campaign bank account andprepare your campaign financial statement.Financial statements must be filed with the clerk by 2 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023
Terri Knight Lepain, City of Windsor
01:13:35
Valerie is correct - the financial statement is due by 2:00 pm on March 31
Terri Knight Lepain, City of Windsor
01:14:00
There was some confusion with a previous slide that mentioned the financial statement filing on January 3
Valerie Critchley
01:14:39
Thanks Terri - so what is that January3rd date - is that to close the campaign and campaign accounts?
Caitlin Reddick
01:15:15
As I mentioned above the January 3, 2023 is when your campaign must end.
Terri Knight Lepain, City of Windsor
01:16:46
Yes - the candidate should not incur any more expenses or collect any more contributions after January 3, unless they give notice to the Clerk that they wish to extend their campaign period.

We will see if there are any more general questions after Ken's presentation which we might need your expertise for. If not, then we will see if anyone wants to move into the breakout rooms for specific municipalities. You and Carole won't need to stay for those. Thanks so much for your participation tonight.

Hi Sarah, Many candidates will tend to look for their 25 endorsement signatures prior to registering on May 1.
